Companies are hiring more tech talent and, at the same time, producing more with fewer developers. Gastón Di Giuseppe, COO of Rocbird, links this contradiction to the use of AI without professional criteria. Rocbird builds engineering, data science, and data governance departments.

The Net Employment Outlook for the Argentine technology sector reaches 22% for the third quarter of 2026, according to the Tech Talent Outlook report by Experis, a division of ManpowerGroup.
For Gastón Di Giuseppe, COO and co-founder of Rocbird, this figure coexists with an underlying tension: "We see a contradiction in the replacement of positions in the technology sector. We are doing more and more with fewer developers. The market is expanding seeking to seize the opportunity offered by AI."
This pattern has a precedent. William Stanley Jevons described it in 1865: technical efficiency does not eliminate the demand for a resource; it shifts it. Coal prices dropped with more efficient machines. Total consumption rose because new uses appeared. With AI, the mechanism is different in one aspect: the number of developers is not growing; the demand placed on each one is. Demand does not disappear. It shifts to supervision, architecture, and judgment.
In this regard, he warned that "the promises of AI require caution. They demand results from AI without adding professional judgment."
What the survey says
39% of employers in the sector plan to hire staff. 36% will not modify their workforce. 8% expect to reduce it. 17% have not yet defined their stance.
Hiring intentions rose by 3 points compared to the previous quarter. It rose by 28 points compared to the same period in 2025. The global average for the technology sector stands at 35%, above the Argentine average.
The study gathers responses from 4,497 employers in the technology sector across 42 countries. The fieldwork was conducted between April 1 and April 30, 2026.
The other side of the data
The same report highlights another tension. 72% of employers face difficulties in finding specialized talent. This data comes from the 2026 Talent Shortage Survey, also by ManpowerGroup. 95% of those employers are already combining different strategies to resolve it.
In this regard, Di Giuseppe clarified that "Rocbird works on building specialized areas in Data: engineering, science, and data governance, the foundation of any data driven organization."
